Todo o aprofundamento acerca da política moderna parte de fragmentos do pensamento agambiano: dispositivo, força-de-lei, iustitium; vida nua e Povo – povo. A análise se inicia com a “suspensão de segurança”. Esta escolha se explica pelo papel paradigmático que desempenha na temática indigenista, conduzindo os autóctones a um vazio normativo. In queste pagine è delineata la vicenda esistenziale e intellettuale di Edith Stein. Donna straordinaria, è stata capace di racchiudere nella sua persona molte "possibili" vite. Le ha realizzate come ebrea e cattolica, fenomenologa e filosofa cristiana, docente e monaca carmelitana, agnostica e santa. Si tratta di un processo vitale dagli apparenti salti qualitativi, i quali si volgono all'ascolto di un medesimo nucleo identitario. Questa viva "formazione di sé" ha condotto Edith Stein a una "donazione di sé", culminata (...) nell'Olocausto. Il Diario di Edith si sovrappone ai pensieri di Angela Ales Bello, in veste di narratrice d'eccezione. Con la sentita partecipazione della narratrice, e insieme mantenendo il distacco critico della studiosa, viene scoperta la storia di un'anima. Le emozioni e le conquiste intellettuali trovano una sintesi grazie al peculiare approccio ai "fenomeni" che Edith Stein aveva appreso alla scuola di Edmund Husserl, di Tommaso d'Aquino e di Teresa D'Avila. This initial volume of the Collected Works of Edith Stein offers, for the first time in English, the unabridged biography of Edith Stein (Teresa Benedicta of the Cross), depicting her life as a child and young adult. Her text ends abruptly because the Nazi SS arrested, then deported, her to the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942. Edith Stein is one of the most significant German women of the 20th century. At the age of twenty-five she became the (...) first assistant to Edmund Husserl, the founder of Phenomenology. She was much in demand as a writer and lecturer after her conversion from atheism to Catholicism. Later, as a Discalced Carmelite nun, she maintained her intellectual pursuits until she, like so many others, became a victim of the Nazi persecution that raged across Eastern Europe. By making this landmark work available in English, the Institute of Carmelite Studies provides an eye-witness account of persons and activities on the scene at the time when psychology and philosophy became separate disciplines. In addition to photographs and a map, this volume is enhanced with a preface, the foreword and afterword, notes, and a list of places associated with Edith Stein’s life. It is our aim that these, together with Edith Stein’s text, may help bring into relief the many background details of the rich autobiographical work she has left us. (shrink)

Resumo: Trata-se de pensar o estatuto dos dados imediatos da consciência após a virada linguística na Filosofia contemporânea. O problema aqui é se pode haver algum conhecimento direto do vivente quanto aos seus estados psicológicos ou se estes seriam desde sempre condicionados pela estrutura da linguagem. Minha hipótese é que, mesmo que se admita uma relação estreita entre o pensamento e a linguagem, disto não se segue necessariamente que haja ali uma correspondência nem que os estados psicológicos se reduzem à (...) sua expressão linguística. Para desenvolver essa hipótese, tomo a filosofia da linguagem de Henri Bergson como um caso exemplar. Já em sua primeira obra-prima, o Ensaio sobre os Dados Imediatos da Consciência, Bergson buscou mostrar por que o caráter pragmático dos signos, não obstante útil para a vida cotidiana e necessário para a maior parte das ciências, obstruía a apreensão qualitativa da vida mental e como disso surgiam dificuldades insuperáveis tanto para a ciência psicológica quanto para a Metafísica. Todavia, diferente de muitas doutrinas contemporâneas, a crítica da linguagem mais incitou do que impediu Bergson de distinguir uma "intuição" pela qual podemos ter um acesso não linguístico aos nossos estados psicológicos. Por esse contraponto entre intuição e linguagem, espero, enfim, lançar algumas dúvidas ao paradigma linguístico contemporâneo.: This essay investigates the status of the immediate data of consciousness after the linguistic turn in contemporary philosophy. The central problem is if exist the possibility of a direct contact of lived beings with their psychological states, or if these are necessarily reduced to the external structure of language. My hypothesis is that even if one admits a strict relation between thought and language, this does not imply necessarily that this relation is a kind of correspondence or that thought is reducible to the structure of language. To develop this suggestion, I will assume Henri Bergson's conception of language as an exemplary case of what I entitle the "paradigm of intuition". By means of a commentary guided mostly by Bergson's first masterpiece, Time and Freewill: An Essay on the Immediate Data of Consciousness, I will show that Bergson understood that language has more than an instrumental role in the expression of our thoughts; I also show why, according to Bergson, this explains many of the difficulties of metaphysical problems. Through a reading between the lines of the debate between Bergson and psychophysics, I intend to point out how the critique of language does not prevent Bergson from privileging a manner of thought by which the lived being can recognize the immediate data of consciousness. For this counterpoint between intuition and language, I will attempt to cast some doubts on the contemporary linguistic paradigm. (shrink)

Que. ce soit pour un scénario clinique ou chirurgical, l’acceptation de prendre une pilule ou de se rendre à une consultation est. essentielle au succès du traitement médical. La “décennie du cerveau” a fourni aux praticiens des données neuroscientifiques substantielles sur le comportement humain, a aidé à expliquer pourquoi les gens font ce qu’ils font et a créé le concept de “cerveau motivé”. Les résultats de la psychologie empirique ont stratifié (...) la motivation en étapes de changement, qui sont devenues plus complexes au fil des décennies. Cette recherche vise à améliorer la compréhension de la façon dont les gens prennent des décisions concernant leur santé et comment mieux comprendre les stratégies et les techniques pour les aider à résoudre les problèmes d’ambivalence de manière efficace et ciblée.MéthodesNous établissons un dialogue avec la phénoménologie de la volonté de Ricoeur afin de comprendre le sens de ces découvertes scientifiques. À partir de la phénoménologie husserlienne, Paul Ricoeur a développé sa pensée en s’éloignant de l’idéalisme transcendantal en émancipant les structures intentionnelles de la volonté du domaine de la perception. Résultats: En introduisant les concepts de volontaire et d’involontaire, Ricoeur s’est. écarté du dualisme cartésien, qui fait du corps un corps d’objet, cible de vicissitudes naturelles. Le nouveau dualisme entre volontaire et involontaire est. traité par référence à ce que Ricoeur a appelé le mystère central de l’existence incarnée, qui considère l’homme “double dans l’humanité, simple dans lavitalité”. Cette dualité permet de considérer le cerveau comme l’organe naturel du comportement dans le corps humain et d’utiliser la psychologie empirique comme moyen d’échapper aux subjectivations superficielles des concepts.ConclusionLa simplicité (ou unité) d’existence invite la médecine à repenser certaines de ses hypothèses philosophiques, de telle sorte que les patients puissent être considérés comme des sujets autonomes avec des projets de vie d’auteur. L’anthropologie ricourienne a un impact éthique profond sur la manière dont la médecine devrait utiliser la technologie, ce qui découle de résultats de psychologie empirique. L’utilisation de ces nouvelles connaissances doit également faire l’objet d’une inspection minutieuse, car elle modifie le rôle social de la science médicale. (shrink)

Para tanto, procura-se situar a questão a partir da obra de Leo Strauss, objetivando-se mostrar por que o niilismo contemporâneo – em suas mais difundidas e às vezes insuspeitas manifestações – impede a realização e mesmo a existência de uma reflexão sobre a natureza das coisas políticas. Tendo-se a retomada por parte de Strauss do “direito natural” como chave de leitura tanto para o “problema central da filosofia política” quanto para o enfrentamento (...) de seus principais opositores, espera-se investigar o sentido e a plausibilidade das críticas aos motivos que nos conduzem ao niilismo e, caso estas se mostrem apropriadas, apontar como um proposto “renascimento do racionalismo político clássico” pode reconduzir à interrogação filosófica acerca do que é bom, da boa vida, da melhor sociedade, de “como deve o homem viver”. Il en résulte des processus de transformation et de pluralisation à l’intérieur du christianisme. L’émergence d’une culture religieuse féminine, d’inspiration féministe, à l’intérieur ou en marge des Églises, participe à ces processus de transformation. Este trabalho identifica o conceito de fracasso escolar a partir de Latour, Deleuze, Guattari e Despret. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em um processo de leitura e diálogo intertextual dos autores propostos.

No other thinker so engaged the Russian cultural imagination of the early twentieth century as did Friedrich Nietzche. The Revolution of Moral Consciousness shows how Nietzschean thought influenced the brilliant resurgence of literary life that started in the 1890s and continued for four decades. Through an analysis of the Russian encounter with Nietzsche, Edith Clowes defines the shift in ethical and aesthetic vision that motivated Russia's unprecedented artistic renascence and at the same time led its followers to the brink (...) of cultural despair. Clowes shows how in the last years of the nineteenth century a diverse array of writers and critics discovered Nietzsche's thought, embracing or repudiating it with equal vigor. The literary storm brewing around Nietzsche and the concurrent relaxation of censorship combined to attract a public eager to follow the new intellectual fashion. Young writers, such as Andreev and Kuprin, welcomed the idea of the "superman" as a promising path to personal fulfillment. The tragic fates of their protagonists and the alluring gospel of the vulgar Zarathustra-like characters of such bestselling authors as Boborykin, Artsybashev, and Verbitskaia found enthusiastic, if indiscriminating, audiences ready to be "taught" how to "find themselves." By considering this Nietzschean cult, Clowes draws fresh insight into the nature of the budding popular-culture industry in Russia and the fast-growing reading public. From this ferment emerged the greatest Russian literary voices of the early twentieth century. The revolutionary romantics, Gorky and Lunacharsky, sought in Nietzsche's writing a new vision of total social and cultural change. Merezhkovsky led a generation of mystic symbolists in the search for a literary myth of resurrection. Ivanov, Blok, and Belyi appropriated the image of the "crucified Dionysus" as the central symbol of spiritual transfiguration. Their encounters with Nietzschean thought disclose an even more profound creative struggle with their own cultural past and its established formulations of nation and individual, culture and history. Clowes uses the term future anxiety to speak of a creative mentality that strove to assert itself by diminishing the impact of powerful literary precursors, such as Tolstoi, Dostoevsky, and Solovyov, and opening to the imagination the vision of a future full of vast creative possibility.
